Since the induction of Percherons into our herd we have made many trips to meet and see many percheron breeders throughout Canada and the US in order to see what kind of
mares were out there. Our first trip found us in Alberta where we got to see a lot of horses and met a lot of nice people. One couple in particular was Winston and Donna Curtis.
When we rolled in to have a look, Winston hooked up a couple of young geldings to a wagon and  took us out to the field to see the mares. The following spring we bought a grey
mare from Winston and Donna named Eyebrights Jody, as well as her yearling grey filly Cee Dee’s Jody Leah.  Jody was bred back to Windy Hill Batman so that spring we had
another grey filly Belle Ryan’s Mystique.  Without the help of our friend, Matthew Hornbrook, Jody would more than likely be home in the pasture being a brood mare. We thought
she was too good to stay home so we sent her to Matthew’s to be broke and thanks to him we have been able to show her in the hitch and halter ring with a lot of success.

This past spring Chris and Matthew Hornbrook made a trip to Pennsylvania to Windermere Farms to bring home a few new additions to our breeding program. Windermere’s Ultimate
Edition a sharp black colt we hope will make a breeding horse for us someday.  Vermillion Patty Lou, a big grey mare with a huge foot, and her black filly, Emmy Lou, by 2008 World
Champion Windermere’s Inferno.  We have also added two Windermere King Cong daughters to our herd, Windermere's Santana and Blue Ribbon Farms Savannah, and another
promising stallion prospect, Windermere's Ghost Rider, by Windermere's Inferno and out of Wapsi View Fantasy.  We also are standing Windermere's In Command for breeding
service.  We would like to thank the Vanderhonings for allowing us to incorporate this quality stallion into our breeding program.

We wish everyone great breeding, foaling and show seasons.  See you at the shows!

Our farm is located in Dempsey Corner in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. Our
family consists of Chris, Amanda, Ethan, and Ryan and about a dozen or so
Percherons at any given time. Our love for the Percheron horse is fairly new, but
the love of horses started in our lives. Amanda's grandfather had the pleasure of
working horses on his fathers farm but that soon gave way to tractors, although
he always kept horses on the farm. Once the work horses were gone, he kept a
few standardbreds around to breed.

It was in 1998 when Chris bought his first two percheron mares from Ron Gailila
Of Oaklawn; a grey 3 year old and Black Oak Jason’s Amanda, a black two year
old. We broke these two mares to drive and ride and raised some foals,  mainly
crossbreds, out of them each year. We crossed them on thoroughbred and
hackney stallions from Ron’s farm with great success. Even though Chris now
runs his own plumbing and heating business Ron and Gail are still are part of our
day to day horse activities and  a great influence in our children’s lives. It was Ron
and Gail who gave Ethan and Ryan their first pony, a little bay mare. We had our
first registered colt in 2002, Belle Ryan’s Bo Degas, a grey colt out of Black Oak
Jason’s Amanda and by Oaklawn Stuart Degas.
